September 2022
Weekly in-person Sunday activities for children have resumed on Sunday mornings. All children are welcome! Our Family Worship space at the back of the Sanctuary is also available for families with infants and toddlers.
Registration Forms: Parents/caregivers are asked to fill out a registration form for their child(ren) for our children’s and youth ministry programs this year. This PDF SS-Registration-Form-2022-23.pdf can be filled out and returned via email to Bethany McMullen: Bethany.mcmullen@parkuc.ca or printed out and returned as soon as possible on a Sunday. Hardcopies of the form will also be available this Sunday. We appreciate you taking the time to fill these out for this programming year! – The Christian Education Committee
Our ministry with children and youth is a vibrant extension of the Parkminster community and we love to welcome new families!
Every Sunday, children and youth participate in our Sunday activities to explore the stories of the Christian faith and what it means to have a genuine, loving relationship with God, with each other, and with the city and world we live in.
Sunday school is offered from September through June during the 10 a.m. worship service. Children and youth start their Sunday in the sanctuary with their families and, following Story Time, head off for Sunday school. We offer programming for all ages from preschool/JK through high school downstairs in our Sunday school wing.
Our two elementary classes (up to Grade 6) use the Deep Blue Kids curriculum. Children gather in their classes to explore the day’s bible story through drama, prayer and a weekly video. After they are introduced to the lesson for the day, children gather in small groups for an application activity and craft. Small groups are a time for children to cultivate relationships with each other and the leaders and learn what it means to live a life full of God’s love. When the service is complete, Sunday school is also complete! At that time, parents/caregivers are asked to please meet their children downstairs in their classroom.
Youth in Grade 7 and up meet downstairs in the Youth Room for discussion, activities and more relating to our faith and the world around us. We discuss a variety of topics that connect our day to day lives with God. We also explore topics relating to world events, social justice, and issues that are relevant to today’s youth. Friends are always welcome!
