March 2025
Weekly in-person Sunday activities for children have resumed on Sunday mornings. All children are welcome! Our Family Worship space at the back of the Sanctuary is also available for families with infants and toddlers.
Our ministry with children and youth is a vibrant extension of the Parkminster community and we love to welcome new families! Every Sunday, children and youth participate in our Sunday activities to explore the
stories of the Christian faith and what it means to have a genuine, loving relationship with God, with each other, and with the city and world we live in.
Sunday School is offered from September through June during the 10 a.m. worshipservice. Children and youth start their Sunday in the sanctuary with their families and, following music head off for Sunday school. We offer programming for Kindergarten through Grade 6 downstairs weekly, and additional programming throughout the year.
Sunday School is a time for children to cultivate relationships with each other and the leaders and learn what it means to live a life full of God’s love. After connecting with one another, children are introduced to the lesson of the week and then move to an activity – whether baking, group games, crafts, or more! When the service is complete, Sunday school is also complete! At that time, parents/caregivers are asked to please meet their children downstairs.
Junior Youth – Grades 5 to 8
We are very excited to announce that we will be running a new Junior Youth class during the service on the Second and Fourth Sunday of each month. This program, for our children in grades 5 to 8, will be using the new anti-racist curriculum from the United Church of Canada, I Am A Changemaker. Like Sunday School, Junior Youth begin the service in the sanctuary with the rest of the congregation, and then leave when invited.
Sunday School also runs on the weeks that Junior Youth runs. Our first session will be September 22 during the service. Mark your calendars for our other dates this year: March 23, April 13, April 27, May 11, May 25. This group works together in age- appropriate activities like group discussions, and journaling while exploring their faith and faith’s role in anti-racism.
Registration Forms: Parents/caregivers are asked to fill out a registration form for their child(ren) for our children’s and youth ministry programs this year. This can be filled out through the link here or printed out and returned as soon as possible on a Sunday. Please ensure you complete the caregiver information page on page 4 of the form (you can skip pages 2 and 3 if you are not registering additional children). We appreciate you taking the time to fill these out! – The Christian Education Committee
